Insulation, Thermal Bridging, Windows & Doors
Second course of two-part Passive House Fundamentals series. First course 'Airtightness & Ventilation' took place June 7th.
This BEE Passive House Fundamentals two-part series dives into the following key principles of high performance building design: airtightness, energy recovery ventilation, insulation & thermal bridging, and windows & doors.
Part 1 taught how to achieve a continuous airtight barrier for retrofits | new construction and utilize efficient balanced ventilation systems. The course discussed lowering heating | cooling demand, improving indoor air quality, preventing moisture | mold issues, and achieving Passive House Certification.
Part 2 teaches the basics of Passive House insulation materials & techniques, principles of thermal bridging & high performance, and how to select | install high performance window & door products without compromising aesthetic. Participants will learn about improving thermal comfort, cutting energy costs, enhancing resiliency, and extending the lifespan of a building components.
